We wish to appoint an outstanding, enthusiastic and ambitious Teacher of English to teach across KS3 to KS5 from September 2019.

The successful candidate will have the ability to teach across all age and ability ranges and A Level English Literature. You will be an effective classroom teacher with the ability to raise the achievement of all students and be keen to play a full part in the life of the school.

Applications from NQTs are welcome as the school has a strong NQT training and support programme.

The English department offers English Language, English Literature, Drama and Media and is one of the most consistently successful departments in the school. In 2018, students’ results were well above national average with an outstanding 86% of GCSE English students achieving Grade 9-4 and with a Progress 8 score in English Literature of 0.3. A level results are also very strong; last year’s A level Literature students achieved 81% A*- C.

Prendergast School is an Outstanding 11-16 Girls School with a mixed 6th Form of 340 and benefits from being part of the Leathersellers’ Federation of Schools. Awarded its third Outstanding OFSTED grading in a row in November 2013, the school has been leading girls’ education in Lewisham for over 125 years.

We are committed to providing excellent CPD for aspirational Middle Leaders and offer the accredited SSAT National Award for Middle Leaders (NAML) to all Middle Leaders. For all new staff we offer a comprehensive and supportive induction programme. The successful candidate will also have access to a rich and varied CPD programme within the school and across the Federation.
